Cardhu has long been at the heart of Johnnie Walker whiskies. In 1893 it was the very first distillery to be brought into the Johnnie Walker family. It still displays the classic smooth Speyside character that John Walker & Sons valued so highly then.
Serving Suggestion: Neat. With water it is softer, with notes of sweet fondant.
APPEARANCE: Unusually vibrant, this Cardhu from selected refill and fresh-charred American Oak casks has character and complexity. BODY The texture is creamy-smooth.
NOSE: The lively, fresh and floral aroma yields grassy top notes with ripe orchard fruits and a trace of vanilla, on light balsa wood base.
PALATE: The taste starts sweet, then there is a delicious spicy dryness as really peppery warmth lasts into the long finish. Adding a good dash of water calms this and brings out sweet, light juiciness.
FINISH: The finish remains pleasingly long; sweet chilli-pepper heat lingers on the aftertaste.
